Opening up sympa
We’ve updated sympa, and we’re now more open about mailing lists.
sympa 6.2.72 should send RFC8058 headers.
We updated from sympa v6.2.70 to v6.2.72, which supports the one click unsubscribe standard, which means I’m worried less about being blocked from certain mail providers for having a improper mail system, as it’s supporting the RFC8058 one click unsubscribe method, which will likely make spam counts lower, or so I hope.
We’re also more open about it, so now anyone, not just tilde.green-members can sign up, and request a mailing list to be hosted here or join one of the already existing ones.
Quick notes for the mailing-list making rules:
-
It would be great if we had more discussion instead of spreading it over multiple many lists.
-
You MUST NOT make a list for the sole purpose of filling it with AI generated content.
I will likely watch new lists, and if I detect AI content or garbage (random data with no meaning), We’re going to delete that list, or notify it’s owners to watch it.
-
You may make a list for a language that is not English if you wish.
-
You may not make a list to defame someone or to talk badly about some specific person or groups of people.
-
Your usage of this service is a privilege, not a right. We may in certain circunstancies not allow it, even if they’re outside this list of pseudo-rules.
-
Most importantly, try to be welcoming of others.
-
You are allowed to make lists that aren’t about tech, and you’re in fact encouraged.
-
We are open to setting up virtual hosts (virtual robot) if so desired.
Thanks for everyone using our services, and give a round of thanks to ComputerTech for hosting this machine and giving us all this great opportunity to make great things.
Postscript: I’m not sure what to put at https://lists.tilde.green/, I might put a description with the list of pseudo-rules and maybe add links to the most popular/interesting ones, but I’m not too sure.
